Yes, the app requires an internet connection to provide real-time features like bus and train tracking, estimated arrival times, trip planning and service alerts.
It’s stored on a securely encrypted server hosted by the financial clearing house. METRO has no access to that information.
Locate nearby fare card retailers
Locations where you can obtain or reload a RideMETRO Fare Card will appear on the map as dark blue pin icons (pictured below). Tap the icon to view details about the retail location.

See current service alerts
If there’s a service alert for a specific route that you’ve selected, you’ll see a red triangle with an exclamation point (pictured below) on the map. Tap the icon to view details about the alert and how it may affect your trip.

Track your bus or train
By allowing the app to access your location, you’ll be able to see:
- Real-time arrival estimates for nearby buses
- Scheduled arrival times for nearby trains
After selecting your route and direction, you'll also see active buses appear as green bus icons moving along the route.
After launching the app, tap on the "Fares" tab at the bottom of your screen. Select "Log In to Your Account" on the next screen, and then tap "Forgot your password?" You'll enter your email address linked to your account and an email will be sent with a link to reset your password.
